K-OS, K-OEM, K-MESH, K-VISOR: The Complete KAPTREK Tactical Smartwatch Ecosystem.
In an operational world where every second matters, field professionals — soldiers, firefighters, security agents, industrial operators — need reliable, discreet, and sovereign tools. Consumer smartphones dependent on Google, Android, or Apple simply do not meet these requirements. That’s exactly why KAPTREK developed a complete ecosystem built around its professional tactical smartwatch: K-OS, K-OEM, K-MESH, and K-VISOR.
These four components form an integrated solution for collaborative geolocation, secure communication, and real-time command, deployable without any pre-existing network infrastructure. A true wearable EUD (End User Device), designed and manufactured in France.
K-OS: KAPTREK's Sovereign Operating System.
K-OS is KAPTREK’s proprietary operating system, based on an embedded Linux kernel (Kernel, Firmware, Bootloader, Drivers) entirely developed in France. Unlike solutions relying on Android, Wear OS, or iOS, K-OS offers complete independence from Big Tech.
The KAPTREK smartwatch under K-OS features:
- 2.4-inch touchscreen (800×480), glove-compatible, sunlight and night-vision readable
- ARM® Cortex-A5 / 32-bit / 500 MHz processor, low power consumption
- Multi-GNSS: GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU
- Wi-Fi 2.4 / 5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.1
- 6-axis IMU + magnetometer / compass
- 1,800 mAh battery — 24h battery life in mixed use
- IP67 / IK08 (shock and water resistant)
- Operating range: -20°C to +50°C
- Dimensions: 8.6 × 6.5 × 2.5 cm — 130g
K-OS enables full customization of the OS and applications to match the client’s operational needs: tactical navigation, Blue Force Tracking, soldier physiological monitoring, drone control, acoustic detection… The SDK is available upon commercial agreement via KAPTREK’s GitLab platform.

K-OEM: The Ruggedized Android Smartwatch, Ready to Deploy.
K-OEM is the Android variant of the KAPTREK smartwatch, targeting rapid deployments or integrators wishing to embed their own applications on a ruggedized wearable platform.
It runs on Android 11.0 (or higher) and includes:
- Quad-core ARM® Cortex-A53 64-bit / 2.0 GHz processor
- 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage
- Built-in nano SIM LTE / 3G / 4G
- Dual camera (5 MP front / 13 MP top, optional)
- 2.88-inch glove-compatible screen
- 2,300 mAh battery — 12h battery life
- IP67 / IK08 — -20°C to +45°C
Three software integration modes are available:
- Turnkey solution with preloaded applications (navigation, tracking, communication)
- Custom application development aligned with the client’s workflows
- Partner co-integration platform, enabling third-party software vendors to deploy their apps on KAPTREK hardware
The K-OEM stands as a ruggedized Android wearable EUD, a sovereign alternative to tactical smartphones in environments where discretion and physical resilience are critical.

K-MESH: The Decentralized MESH Radio Network, Meshtastic-Compatible.
K-MESH is a LoRa radio beacon operating on ISM 868 MHz bands (Europe/France) or 433 MHz, enabling the creation of a decentralized mesh network of up to 100 nodes with a range of +/- 2 km point-to-point — no cellular network, no satellite, no Wi-Fi required.
Key specifications:
- AES-256 encryption
- Native open-source Meshtastic firmware (on-premises)
- ATAK / CivTAK compatible via Meshtastic plugin
- Position refresh rate: 5 to 10 seconds (Europe), < 1 second outside Europe
- Connectivity to EUD: Bluetooth, USB, WiFi (TCP-IP)
- Built-in GNSS
- 3,000 mAh battery — 24h battery life
- Resistance: IP54 / IK06 — -20°C to +45°C
- Weight: 155g
K-MESH connects directly to K-OS and K-OEM smartwatches and transmits position data, text messages, and Points of Interest (POI / Cursor on Target) to the C2 supervisor via any internet access point (4G/5G, STARLINK…).
Why does the Meshtastic community care about K-MESH? Meshtastic is a hugely popular open-source protocol within radio amateur, tactical, and preparedness communities (meshtastic.org), enabling encrypted LoRa communications without infrastructure. K-MESH natively integrates this firmware, providing immediate interoperability with existing Meshtastic devices while adding the industrial-grade robustness that professionals require.

K-VISOR: Real-Time C2 Command and Supervision Interface
K-VISOR is the command and supervision interface (C2 / C4ISR) for the KAPTREK ecosystem. Accessible via web browser (Chrome recommended) on Windows 11, it provides real-time visibility over the entire deployed network.
Features:
- Multi-mode mapping: Satellite, Roads, Dark Tactical, Terrain, 3D
- Real-time position display for up to 100 simultaneous beacons
- K-MESH beacon and node management
- Operator ↔ operator ↔ C2 messaging
- Points of Interest / Cursor on Target (POI / CoT)
- Server hosted in France — MQTT protocol with TLS + AES-256 encryption
- Local hosting option available
- Multi-user with secure authentication
K-VISOR can supervise multiple parallel MESH networks, making it suitable for multi-team operations spread across different geographic zones.

Use Cases: The KAPTREK Ecosystem in Action.
Defense — Special Forces on Mission
A special forces team deploys with no cellular network access. Every operator wears a K-OS smartwatch on the wrist. K-MESH beacons are positioned as relays every 2 km. The remote supervisor tracks positions in real time on K-VISOR. Tactical messages and target points (CoT) travel over AES-256 with no satellite dependency. ➜ Decentralized Blue Force Tracking, operational in under 10 minutes.
Firefighters — Intervention in Hazardous Environments
During a major fire, the command post monitors engaged teams via K-VISOR. Each firefighter wears a K-OEM displaying their position, danger zones, and team communications. In case of distress, the SOS button triggers an immediate alert. ➜ Real-time human resource management, zero blind spots.
Industry — Lone Worker Protection
On a remote industrial site, maintenance operators work alone in hazardous zones. The K-OEM displays production data, monitors machine alerts, and enables direct communication with the supervisor. The K-MESH ensures connectivity even in dead zones. ➜ PTI/Lone Worker Protection compliance, full operational traceability.
Security — Sensitive Site Surveillance
Security agents patrol an extended facility. K-VISOR allows the security manager to monitor their positions continuously, trigger alerts, and coordinate responses via encrypted text messaging. ➜ Maximum responsiveness, frictionless coordination.
Conclusion: A Sovereign Wearable EUD Platform, Made in France.
The K-OS + K-OEM + K-MESH + K-VISOR ecosystem positions KAPTREK as the only sovereign C2/C4ISR wearable solution designed and manufactured in France, with no dependency on Big Tech or Asian manufacturers. Meshtastic-compatible, AES-256 encrypted, modular and fully customizable, it meets the strictest requirements of defense, security, healthcare, and industrial markets.
